Peter Pugh

Chairman

Peter graduated in History from Cambridge in 1965 and pursued a career in marketing until 1984, when he began writing corporate histories, which he still writes. He formed Icon Books with two fellow directors in 1991. Peter is the author of Introducing Keynesian Economics and over 40 company histories, including a three-volume comprehensive history of Rolls-Royce called The Magic of a Name.

Philip Cotterell

Managing Director

Philip joined Icon in January 2012, having been a non-executive director of the company for three years. He manages Icon and deals with the company’s overseas agents including Allen and Unwin and Consortium. He worked for 25 years at Piatkus, where he was deputy MD.

Duncan Heath

Editorial Director

Duncan joined Icon in 1994 and is in charge of the production of all Icon books, from editing manuscripts to seeing a new book off to the printers. He is also involved in the commissioning of new titles.

Andrew Furlow

Sales & Marketing Director

Andrew joined Icon in 1999, looks after marketing for all Icon titles and, with the Marsh Agency, the selling of rights for Icon books to foreign publishers. He is also editor of the Icon website, and works closely with Icon’s sales agents and distributors, Faber & Faber, and TBS Distribution.

He won the IPG Young Independent Publisher of the Year Award 2011.

Henry Lord

Publicity Manager – Icon Books | Head of Imprint – Corinthian Books

Henry deals with all publicity enquiries relating to Icon, Corinthian and Wizard Books. Please contact him for feature suggestions, author interview requests and review copies.
He is also in charge of Icon’s sport imprint, Corinthian Books. Submissions for this should be directed to him. He has co-authored several golf books, including St Andrews: The Home of Golf.

Harry Scoble

Editor

Harry joined Icon in April 2011. He works closely with Duncan in the editing and production of Icon books, liaising with authors, typesetters, proof-readers and designers.

Madeleine Beresford

Publishing Coordinator

Madeleine deals with ebooks and production, as well as working closely with Philip on overseas distribution. She also organises Icon’s work experience placements (please see the vacancies page for more details), and looks after submissions.
