'A fascinating pot-pourri that will appeal to lovers of historical trivia' Good Book Guide

A wonderful compendium of historical tales, organised by days of the year, spanning the highs and lows of human existence.

Every day of the year has a story to tell. Who was assassinated, acceded to the throne, fled from their country? Who was born, began an affair, was impeached, disgraced or knighted? What nation was born, what army defeated in the face of great odds, what era-defining book published?

Read about the day Rommel, the Desert Fox, committed suicide, Napoleon's escape from island exile on Elba, the Catholic church condemning Galileo for heresy, Caesar's murder on the Ides of March, and many more.
