What is an ebook?
An ebook is just a term to describe a piece of text that you read in digital rather than physical form (on a screen rather than by turning a page).
What forms do Icon ebooks come in and how do they differ?
The two main formats are EPUB and PDF files. The differences between them are largely technical, affecting which device they can be read on. Icon’s backlist titles are only available as PDFs, but new titles are available in both formats, meaning you can read them on almost every ereader and device.
What are the different types of ereader?
There are several different types of ereader. Wiley ereader resource provides a quick reference guide to those on the market at the moment.
What are the different devices I can read an Icon ebook on?
All of Icon’s ebooks are available as PDFs, which you can download and read on your computer using the free Adobe Digital Editions software. You can find Icon’s ebooks on iphones and ipads through the Kobo ereading app and the WHSmiths app. In addition, our new books are available on almost all ereaders, including Sony ereaders, Kindles and the Kobo ereader, and will be available with Baker & Taylor through the Blio software from mid-2011.
How will my e-book be delivered?
Depending on what kind of ereader you have, your ebooks will either be delivered over your wi-fi direct to your reader, downloaded to your computer over the internet and then via USB to your reader, or direct to your device (for example with ipad and iphone).
Are all Icon books available in e-book form?
No. We aim to make as many new titles as possible available in ebook formats by the end of this year, but we’re still working on our backlist. We currently have about 120 ebooks. You can find a list of these on the ebooks page of our website.

Icon have just launched an Introducing Ethics iphone and ipad app which is available in Apple’s app store. Introducing Ethics will be followed over the next three months by Introducing Quantum Theory, Capitalism, Psychology and Philosophy and each app will be available on Android devices shortly.
