Fighting Fantasy™ to appear on TV!

Encouraged by the success of the first four re-launched Fighting Fantasy™ Gamebooks in June 2002, Wizard will not only have 20 titles out by the end of this year, but also intends to promote them on TV.

Shot by Infinity Productions, the 30-second ad begins with an ordinary schoolboy waiting at a bus stop. But as he begins to read the Fighting Fantasy™ Gamebook, he finds himself in the midst of a terrifying adventure. Faced with a choice of whether or not to stand and fight, he is soon confronting fire-breathing gorgons and doing battle with unseen foes in the backstreets of London. It's not until he gets home and slams the book shut that reality returns. The ad finishes with a shot of the Fighting Fantasy™ books, box sets and add-ons that will be available in the Autumn.

The £1/4 million TV advertising campaign has been produced with the help of leading global media communications agency, Zenith Optimedia. Beginning in the second week of November, it will run for 7 weeks to take advantage of the Christmas shopping boom. Targetting 3 top kids' satellite channels - Cartoon Network, Fox Kids and Nickelodeon - Wizard hopes to reach 3 million 8-to 12-year-olds, 35% of whom will see the advert at least 4 times.

Fighting Fantasy™ may have been big the first time around, but this brave move by Wizard Books demonstrates their belief that FF certainly isn't just a past craze: it's incredibly popular today among a new generation of fans, and it's here to stay.
